Wales: proposed heritage regulations and draft guidance (January 2017)

Good national heritage planning policy and guidance is important, making sympathetic change easier, and harmful change more difficult.  With other stakeholders the CLA has secured a complete review of Welsh policy and guidance.  This is the latest in a series of consultations on this in 2016-17.  This further new guidance drafted by Cadw (which had much CLA input) is generally good, though this CLA response suggests a number of improvements.

MP briefing: Neighbourhood Planning Bill – Second Reading (Lords) (17 Jan 2017)

Following consideration by the House of Commons the House of Lords debated the Neighbourhood Planning Bill, which makes changes to the compulsory purchase process. The CLA sent to peers a briefing which highlights what further changes need to be made to the Bill in this area to maximise the benefit to rural landowners.
