Several organisations across the South East have recently been awarded grants totalling £20,000 from the CLA Charitable Trust (CLACT), to help connect young people with nature and the countryside.

The trust is funded almost entirely by subscriptions and donations from members of the CLA, and has recently approved applications from:

  • Autism Group in Berkshire, awarded £1,100 to help run outdoor nature sessions for young people.
  • Isle of Wight Rare Breeds CIC, awarded £4,700 towards the running costs of a new young farming club.
  • Trail Blazers Education CIC in Kent, awarded £4,000 for a fishing and forest school summer programme.
  • London-based Action for Conservation, awarded £5,000 towards travel costs for its Ambassador Programme, giving young people the opportunity to deliver environmental action projects in their communities.
  • Mrs Burney's Bee Club CIC, in London, awarded £2,400 to deliver bee experience workshops for primary school pupils.

Since its foundation in 1980, the trust has given £2m in grants to a wide variety of organisations and projects.
