The CLA South East team regularly submits consultation responses to represent members' views and stand up for the rural economy.

Recent examples include our response to the North Wessex Downs Management Plan Review, ahead of its publication of a revised plan in late 2025.

Local authorities that cover the North Wessex Downs must produce a Management Plan every five years. In July 2024 the North Wessex Downs National Landscape Partnership agreed to extend the current 2019-24 Management Plan by one year to take account of new national targets and guidance for protected landscapes. The next plan will cover the period to 2030.

Meanwhile the Surrey Hills National Landscape has been drafting its Surrey Hills Management Plan 2025 - 2030. This plan looks beyond the next five or ten years and sets out a "long-term vision for the Surrey Hills as a thriving National Landscape for the next century".
