Developing a tourist accommodation registration scheme in England call for evidence

The proposal to develop a tourist accommodation scheme in England will be concerning for many members who operate short-term let properties. In our consultation response we urge that the government ‘do nothing’ in order to avoid duplication of work and obligations which already exist for short-term let operators. We also suggest that any form of registration scheme would not address the wider issue trying to be ‘solved’, which is the supply of rented homes. We also highlight that in rural areas, the contribution to the economy of tourism-based businesses is too precious to be diminished by potential burdensome legislation.
