Commissioned by the then Defra Secretary of State Steve Reed, Baroness Batters was asked to undertake a review to examine the realities of farming to inform future policy.
The report, published in December 2025, sets out the challenges and opportunities with a series of recommendations for government. These recommendations will feed into the government plans for a 25-year Farming Roadmap, expected to be published this year.
