CLA Cymru at the Plaid Cymru Conference
CLA Cymru attended Plaid Cymru's conference to represent members to the new Welsh Government.
CLA Cymru was proud to host a well-attended Fringe Meeting at the recent Plaid Cymru Conference in Llandudno. The conference, held at The Venue from 2nd to 3rd October, marked the party’s first gathering since its election victory in the Senedd election in May. History was made as delegates welcomed the first ever Plaid Cymru First Minister, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS, to the stage.
Our meeting took place on the Saturday morning under the title Supporting Rural Wales: Delivering Prosperity, Resilience and Opportunity. CLA Cymru chaired the discussion and was delighted to be joined on the panel by Llyr Gruffydd MS, the Welsh Government Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability. The room, filled to capacity, drew attendance from both conference delegates and Plaid Cymru Members of the Senedd, among them Siân Gwenllian MS, the Minister responsible for planning.
The conversation proved very positive and constructive. Topics ranged from the 182-day rule for letting and the Sustainable Farming Scheme to the challenges of the current planning system and the vital need for rural Wales to sit front and centre in any wider national economic approach from the new Welsh Government. Breakfast was provided by CLA member Castell Howell, with drinks supplied by fellow member Radnor, adding a welcome touch of quality Welsh produce to the morning.
It was an excellent and constructive meeting that reflected the shared ambition to strengthen rural communities. We look forward to building on this strong foundation and continuing our relationship with the Minister and the Welsh Government to deliver real progress for rural Wales and the nation as a whole.
