Who will you meet at our Summer Shows?

Our regional advisory team of Alice Simon and Chris Farr will be on hand to answer questions relating to your land-based business at both Devon County Show and Royal Cornwall Show.

We will also be joined by experts from The CLA’s London Office.

Louise Speke leads the CLA team of tax advisers and has overall responsibility for tax law and policy, including the tax advisory service to members. She represents the CLA on HMRC’s Capital Tax Liaison Group and their VAT on Land & Property Liaison Group. She is also a member of the Welsh Government Tax Forum. Louise originally qualified as solicitor and after leaving private practice worked as the Law Society’s Tax Policy Adviser before joining the CLA in July 2013.

Matthew Doran is a Land Use Policy Adviser who leads on climate change and water in the Land Use team. Matthew studied Geography at the University of Oxford where his dissertation - examining the constraints on forest regeneration in the Scottish Highlands - sparked his interest in rural land use and management.

Matthew will be hosting round table events for members to join on Thursday and Friday (11am) to discuss permitting of diary farms. Members are welcome to drop by the CLA stand and join this discussion.

In addition to Alice, Chris and Louise, we will be joined by CLA Land Use Policy Adviser Jack Chivers. Jack has a specialism in agriculture and previously worked as a Chartered Rural Surveyor, and is a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.

Jack will be hosting round table discussions on Thursday and Friday (11am) to offer the latest updates on the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI).
