Inspiring best practice in forestry

The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) is set to inspire best practice in forestry at a technical event hosted at Longleat.
Forest in the autumn

Attendees at the event, which will be held on Thursday 22 May at Corsley Reading Room, will hear from Longleat forestry experts, alongside experts from the CLA, providing them with an opportunity to learn more about Longleat’s long-term management plan for the forest, woodland grants and incentives, nature conservation and management and forestry asks of government.

The event, held by kind permission of Lord Bath with support from Savills, will finish with a light lunch and a tour of the grounds of Longleat Forest.

Having coined the phrase 'continuous cover forestry' in 1978, Longleat manages its woodlands with an uneven aged and mixed species structure. As members of the Continuous Cover Forestry Group Longleat promote this practice nationally and have a very strong pedigree with this silvicultural practice.

Chris Farr, Regional Adviser for the CLA in the South West, commented: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Longleat Estate to offer this informative seminar on best practice in forestry. The forestry and timber sector plays a key role in ensuring our woods and forests are healthy and continue to flourish for generations to come, and this event provides the ideal opportunity to discover how this can be achieved.”

Tickets cost £24 per person (including VAT) and this event is open to members and non-members of the CLA. Places can be booked here.
