The CLA has responded to a Government consultation on changes to permitted development rights in England. The consultation focussed on changes to permitted development rights for householders to enlarge their homes, the upward extension of buildings, demolition of certain buildings and rebuild as dwellings and the installation of EV charging equipment and air source heat pumps. The CLA has supported most proposals forming the consultation as permitted development rights play an important part in reducing the regulatory burden of the planning system, enabling landowners and homeowners to improve their properties in a cost efficient and straight forward way.
