CLA Consultation Response to the NPPF
This is the CLA's consultation response to proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework and other changes to the planning system in England. The CLA has responded to a government consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and other changes to the planning system. The consultation is the most significant overhaul of national planning policy since 2012 and proposes a wide range of planning reform including clearer policies on acceptable development outside settlements.
Our response has been informed by discussions with members on our Policy, Business and Rural Economy and Branch Committees. The CLA has provided feedback on a number of policy areas including a proposed new ‘default yes’ for development around railway stations, changes to policies for affordable housing (including Rural Exception Sites) and the rural economy and proposed changes to how heritage is dealt with via the planning system.
