The Country Land and Business Association’s flagship Rural Powerhouse campaign has won a major national award, with judges from other industry bodies marking it out as ‘an exemplar of how to lobby’.

The CLA’s campaign, which has secured several major lobbying successes in pursuit of economic growth in the countryside, was named ‘Best Lobbying Campaign’ at the prestigious Association Excellence Awards in London.

The awards are, as the name suggests, designed to celebrate excellence across the thousands of membership and trade associations that champion causes and sectors throughout the country.

The CLA’s Land & Business magazine was awarded silver in the 'Best Association Magazine' category.

Director of External Affairs Jonathan Roberts said:

“The Rural Powerhouse campaign is a statement of our ambition as an organisation to unlock the vast potential of the rural economy. We believe profoundly in the dynamism of rural businesses, and that with the right government support we can see economic growth go hand in with food production and environmental delivery."

I am delighted that the hard work of the whole CLA team in delivering this vision has been recognised in this way

Jasmin McDermott, Editor of Land and Business Magazine, said:

“I am delighted that the CLA’s monthly member magazine, Land & Business, has been celebrated with this award, which is a testament to the hard work and effort put in by everyone at the CLA to produce such a well-read and influential publication.

"The judges recognised that it is more than just a magazine – it is a source of intelligence, insight and opinions on the many different aspects of the rural economy and way of life.”
