Sustainable Communities

This report, published as part of the CLA's Rural Powerhouse campaign, explores how many communities across rural England and Wales are struggling with a lack of housing stock. Put simply, communities where local people cannot afford to live are not sustainable.

The CLA is campaigning for a pragmatic approach to house-building in rural areas. Many villages could benefit enormously from small scale developments, providing affordable homes to local people and, as a consequence, strengthening the fabric of the local economy and community.
