This Guidance Note provides landowners with practical steps to take to try to avoid land being subject to unauthorised encampments and explains the criminal and civil options available when they occur. It outlines the evidence needed to show that the conditions for the new section 60C CJPOA offence, relating to residing on land without consent in or with a vehicle, are met and summarises the statutory guidance that police must consider.
