Meeting with Ashley Dalton, MP for West Lancashire

Robert Frewen, Regional Surveyor recently met with Ashley Dalton MP, the Labour MP for West Lancashire. This followed a face to face meeting earlier in the year to discuss land drainage in relation to flooding issues in the area.

The aim of this follow-up meeting was to discuss flood issues in the constituency and progress with the intention to create a water level management board to take over management of flood and drainage works from the Environment Agency.

Robert invited Innes Thompson of the Association of Drainage Authorities, Rob Ide of the Environment Agency, and Adam Briggs of the NFU to join the meeting, which led to a well-rounded and useful discussion. The meeting concluded with a genuine offer of support from Ashley, both in terms of lobbying fellow MPs and ministers, as well as locally in the constituency. Further updates on progress will follow.
