CLA activities at Westmorland County Show

Activities and opportunities for members to meet special guests at this year's extended two day show

The CLA North team will be out in force at this year’s Westmorland County Show which will be held over two days on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 September.

Members are welcome to join us for refreshments such as tea, coffee or a glass of wine. Regional Advisers will be there to discuss any landowning issues with members.

Notable activities at the CLA stand include:

  • Wednesday, from 9am to 10am, Defra Head of ELM Advice and Technical Guidance James LePage will provide an update on the Agricultural Transition Plan and progress made to date. There will also be ample opportunity for members to ask questions about issues they may have. Coffees, teas and continental pastries available to attending members.
  • Wednesday, from 3pm to 4pm, the CLA North team will host an exclusive drinks reception (wine, soft drinks, coffees and teas – with nibbles), where members can meet up with new CLA Director North Lucinda Douglas and CLA Cumbria Branch Chair Susie Villiers-Smith. Members are required to register via this link. NOTE: Registration for this event does not allow access to the show.
  • Thursday, from 2.30pm, CLA Cumbria Branch Chair (and CLA Board member) Susie Villiers-Smith will be on the stand talking about the CLA North Women's Network. The aim of the network is to empower more women into leadership roles within the CLA and beyond through networking, inspiring and sharing best practice. As part of the event, attendees can sample the finest gins kindly provided by CLA Lancashire Branch committee member Dr Fiona McNeill's Bashall Spirits
