Wild beaver reintroduction consultation in Derbyshire
Derbyshire Wildlife Trust are exploring the possibility of reintroducing wild beavers in the Derbyshire Derwent catchment
Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT) are exploring the possibility of reintroducing wild beavers in the Derbyshire Derwent catchment.
They are looking to understand Derbyshire's readiness for reintroduction and recognise that consulting with farmers, landowners and communities along rivers is an essential part of this process.
If you own land or a business, close to a river or watercourse in the Derbyshire Derwent catchment, it’s important you have the opportunity to understand what wild beavers would mean for you.
You have the opportunity to ask questions and have your views heard about the possibility of wild beaver reintroduction to ensure this assessment is fully informed.
The community consultation has started and will be taking place throughout 2026.
