Midlands Regional Director, Sophie Dwerryhouse attends the High Sheriff of Derbyshire’s Legal Service
Recently, CLA Midlands Regional Director, Sophie Dwerryhouse attended the High Sheriff of Derbyshire’s Legal Service held at The Cathedral Church of All Saints, Derby.
This event is a modern ceremonial function that highlights the historical role of the High Sheriff as the Crowns representative in the county for matters of law and order.
The annual service, hosted by CLA member and High Sheriff of Derbyshire, Sir Richard FitzHerbert Bt saw representatives from the judiciary, law enforcement and legal professionals attending.
Sophie said “It was an honour to be invited to attend this event. The feeling of rural matters ran throughout the service and it was lovely to see so many CLA members and friends in attendance.”
Sir Richard FitzHerbert commented “It was a superb service at Derby Cathedral to mark the beginning of the Legal Year in our County.
“As part of my shrivel year, I have focused on the agricultural sector and the work that farmers and the rural dwellers do, to not only provide food but also to maintain the landscape that we as a nation so cherish for our exercise and well-being.
“I chose our Derbyshire Rural Chaplain Rev. Alan Griggs as my High Sheriff Chaplain, and he preached about the value of our food producers and the glorious countryside that farmers look after. It was a special day”.
Earlier this year, Sir Richard FitzHerbert was awarded the CLA President's Award in honour of his dedication and commitment to the organisation.
