The CLA Midlands team recently delivered a series of events designed to help members navigate what can be the complex process of succession planning. These sessions focused on giving family businesses the tools they need to safeguard their future, maintain family harmony and make confident, informed decisions about their future.
Attendees heard from trusted experts on a range of essential topics, including:
- How to approach family conversations and facilitate fair, workable succession plans for both the family and the business
- The latest tax updates and how the CLA can support you
- Business structures such as companies, partnerships and gifting shares
- Legal essentials including wills, powers of attorney, trusts and formal agreements
Recent changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR) prompted further discussion. Despite the updated thresholds announced just before Christmas, the CLA will continue to campaign for these inheritance tax changes to be fully reversed.
