Rural Crime Week of Action 2022: CLA Midlands Blog

CLA Midlands advises rural communities how to help the authorities locate and respond to rural and wildlife crime

On Monday 4th April 2022, Police Forces across the country have organised a Rural Crime Week of Action to raise awareness about the efforts being made to tackle rural and wildlife crime effectively, to ensure those living, working in and visiting our countryside feel safe.

Here at CLA Midlands, we’ll be getting involved in the Rural Crime #weekofaction by sharing advice about the simple actions people can take to help their local Rural Crime Action Team better identify and tackle the rural and wildlife crime incidents impacting their community.

One tool that is especially helpful in rural areas is what3words, a free app that anyone can use to report the location of a rural crime easily and accurately.

what3words has given every 3m square in the world a unique 3 word address, so people can communicate any precise location using just three words.

So whether you’re a farmer who wants to put a stop to hare coursing on your land, or a walker who wants to report an abandoned vehicle in a field, what3words provides a simple way to communicate the exact location of the rural crime you wish to report using just three random words.

For example, if you find fly-tipping in a remote location, just open the app, get the three word location and the authority will be able to pinpoint it within feet.
