Meeting landowners at The Glamping Show
The CLA stand

Members of the Midlands team had the pleasure of attending The Glamping Show held at NAEC, Stoneleigh from the 18th to the 20th September.

The Glamping Show, which is now in its 11th year and known as the UK’s only luxury camping show, is a regular on the CLA calendar and provides the opportunity to meet current and potential members, who are looking to diversify into the glamping sector.

Exhibitors range from glamping pod providers to accessory retailers, and those attending vary from those who already have glamp sites, to those who are looking to purchase land with future diversification plans.

Throughout the three days expert seminars take place, guiding those who are interested, through the practicalities of setting up a glamping site. This included topics such as planning permission, marketing and technology and practical actions that can be taken away.

John Greenshields, CLA Midlands Rural Surveyor, explored the key considerations for setting up a successful glamping business during two presentations. He covered topics including health and safety aspects which may not have been thought about, insurance factors, business rates and access points, plus the all-important planning, tax and viability considerations.

John's talk - Saturday

It was a pleasure to once again be invited to speak at The Glamping Show. It’s a great opportunity to engage with landowners and explore the potential of this specific diversification opportunity, which continues to offer real value and promise to the rural sector. We hope that the members who attended were able to benefit from the day and make use of the CLA’s attendance.
