CLA Big Breakfast 2026
Discover more about this year’s guest speakers
The CLA Midlands team is delighted to confirm the speaker lineup for the ever-popular CLA Big Breakfast, returning to the Royal Three Counties Show on Friday 12th June 2026. This much loved event brings members and guests together for a locally sourced, full English breakfast, networking and the chance to hear from leading voices shaping today’s rural sector.
Hosted in the Members’ Pavilion from 7am to 9am, the breakfast has become a firm favourite, combining good food, good company and valuable insight.
We are pleased to welcome Richard Negus as one of this year’s speakers. A former soldier and professional horseman, Richard is now a highly regarded hedgelayer and is recognised nationally as one of the country’s leading practitioners of hedgerow management and rejuvenation.
He co-hosts the weekly Countryslide podcast, exploring British rural life and work, and is a regular contributor to The Daily Telegraph, The Critic and Scribehound. He lives in Suffolk.
Joining Richard on the lineup is Patrick Galbraith, one of the UK’s most respected rural and environmental journalists. Raised in Scotland, Patrick is the Environment Correspondent at The Telegraph, and his writing has also appeared in The Observer, The Spectator, The Times and The Financial Times. He spent seven years as editor of Shooting Times and continues to write columns for Country Life and The Critic. His latest book, Uncommon Ground, was published in April 2025, following his acclaimed debut In Search of One Last Song, widely regarded as one of the most important recent works on the countryside.
