A hidden gem brought back to life

Warwickshire Farm Walk in conjunction with Warickshire Rural Hub
Warwickshire Farm Walk with Warwickshire Rural Hub

Members and guests joined the CLA and Warwickshire Rural Hub for a special wildlife farm walk, hosted by Miranda Aston and Ulli Ull at their lovingly restored smallholding.

With a full turnout, attendees heard how the eight-year project helped transform a neglected holding into a wildlife haven.

The walk began with a warm welcome from Miranda and Ulli, who shared the story of how they came to care for the farm and what it has taken to restore it. They spoke about their journey from careers as a photography lecturer and engineer, to buying the piece of land and how, over the last eight years the land is now in a Higher Level Stewardship.

After the presentation, the group toured the land focusing mainly on a small meadow beside the River Leam, where a rich mix of grasses, herbs and wildflowers are being preserved. Attendees heard about the wildlife the habitat supports and the practical management decisions behind the results now visible on the ground.

The afternoon finished in the sunshine with tea and cake in the barn and plenty of time for questions. This relaxed event also created space for networking, with members and guests sharing experiences and making introductions.

A big thank you to Miranda and Ulli for hosting such an enjoyable and informative visit, and to everyone who came along and contributed to the discussion. If you would like to hear about future events with the CLA, please visit our website.
