Two organisations in the East have been awarded grants totalling nearly £15,000 from the CLA Charitable Trust (CLACT), to help connect young people with nature and the countryside.

The trust is funded almost entirely by subscriptions and donations from members of the CLA, and has recently approved applications from:

Lauriston Farm Ltd, a charitable community owned farm in Essex, has been given nearly £10,000 towards funding for a social farming bursary to support weekly term-time visits from a local special school to its care farm.

Meanwhile, The Nest Farm in Suffolk, which supports young people aged 9 to 25 who are unable to access full-time education or work due to mental health challenges, has been awarded £5,000 towards its sustainable farming and wellbeing programme.

Since its foundation in 1980, the trust has given more than £2m in grants to a wide variety of organisations and projects.
