East West Rail
An update on CLA engagement regarding this significant project
The CLA has held a number of meetings with East West Rail (EWR) over the last few months, and we are looking to arrange a CLA members’ meeting with EWR in the coming weeks.
The session will cover the proposed timeline, non-intrusive surveys, surveys, valuation, a Q&A and some one-to-one question time too.
The anticipated timescales for the project are for the public consultation to be early 2026, with a Submission of Application for Development Consent Order in January 2027.
What the CLA needs to know going forward:
• Where there are communication difficulties with EWR or where you require a one-to-one meeting and have not been able to get one, please contact the regional office, and we will help. We have successfully achieved EWR engagement where the relationship has been difficult.
• We need to know where there are problems with agents or contractors working for EWR. We may be able to help resolve these and it is also useful for our work on compulsory purchase reform.
