CLA President to speak at Suffolk Show

Country Land & Business Association (CLA) President Victoria Vyvyan is to address 100 farmers, landowners and rural businesses at a CLA breakfast event as the Suffolk Show gets underway (May 28).

Victoria has been a leading voice in challenging government on planned reforms of agricultural property relief (APR) and business property relief (BPR) announced in the Budget last year. Victoria has also spoken out recently against the sudden closure of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI).

During the breakfast she will provide an update to guests on the CLA’s campaigning against planned agricultural and business inheritance tax changes and its other key lobbing and policy areas.

Last week, A cross-party group of MPs (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee) urged the Government to delay its changes to inheritance tax (IHT), backing the CLA’s calls to consult and consider alternatives. More here >

This week, the CLA has criticised the government for refusing to provide evidence to back up a Minister’s claim that an industry suggested ‘clawback’ alternative to its inheritance tax changes would raise ‘much less’ revenue than the current reforms. Read more >
