CLA East succession planning events
A short review of our events held last month
The CLA East team recently held a series of events to help members with their succession planning.
The events were designed to help family businesses protect their future, maintain family harmony, and make informed decisions with confidence. Delegates heard from trusted experts about:
- How to approach conversations and facilitate succession planning that is fair and works for the family and business
- Tax updates and how the CLA cansupport you
- Business structures: companies, partnerships, and gifting shares
- Legal essentials: Wills, Power of Attorney, trusts, and agreements
CLA East Events Manager Elaine Molton said the events were well received:
“Our succession events were very well attended and the feedback we have had so far has been extremely positive. We heard from a range of speakers who provided relevant updates and I had one attendee comment that it was the most informative session on the subject that she had been to.
“I am always keen to hear from CLA members about events they would like us to host. This can be everything from social events and networking opportunities to technical seminars on matters of land management. Please get in touch with us if there’s a topic you would like us to consider holding an event about.”
Despite the changes in the threshold that were announced on Agricultural Proprty Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR) late last year, the CLA will, in the longer term, continue to campaign for the policy on inheritance tax changes to be scrapped in full.
However, it is essential all businesses understand their position now and plan where they can. and the CLA tax team can provide free succession planning advice to members.
