Country Land and Business Association (CLA) Regional Director Cath Crowther has announced she is expecting her second child.

The CLA is a membership organisation which represents the interests of farmers, landowners and rural businesses across England and Wales. Cath, who oversees the CLA team in the East of England, will go on maternity leave at the end of October.

Mark Riches, who is a former CLA Regional Director in the Midlands and has also held the post of Director of Programmes within the organisation, has been appointed to cover Cath’s period of maternity leave.

Speaking of her news, Cath said:

“I am extremely excited to be expecting my second child and am delighted that Mark will be joining the team while I am away.

“The agricultural sector continues to go through a period of significant change and our members should feel reassured to have Mark leading the team in the east. With Mark’s vast experience within the CLA and his extensive background as a rural surveyor, I can think of no better person to have representing our region.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mark added:

“Having worked for the CLA for many years I never cease to be impressed by how innovative and entrepreneurial CLA members are. I am acutely aware of the challenges and uncertainty that the agricultural transition has presented for many, but it is the CLA’s role to help members navigate these complex issues and highlight future opportunities. I look forward to being part of that.

“During my time in the region I hope to meet many members and learn more about their businesses and how we can help them to thrive.”
