The CLA East team continues to push back against the government’s planned inheritance tax changes and this pressure will continue.

Regional Director Cath Crowther has undertaken a wide-range of TV, radio and newspaper interviews in recent weeks to highlight the impact the changes to Business Property Relief (BPR) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR) will have on rural businesses.

With the government not currently recognising the impact of its proposals, it is important family businesses take advice to put themselves in the best possible position for the changes that are due to come into effect from April.

CLA East succession events in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Lincolnshire in December brought members up to date with the latest developments and provided an opportunity for them to discuss their own personal situations with our tax experts.

Members are reminded that the CLA has free advice on its website where you will find the Succession Hub. You can also call the CLA East team who can liaise with our tax experts in London and discuss any tax related questions you have.
