An overview of CLA committees
Find out more about the CLA committee structure and how you can get involved
The CLA is first and foremost a membership organisation. All major decisions affecting the organisation are made by members at a national and local level.
Each county in England and Wales is covered by a branch committee dedicated to supporting the needs of members locally.
Here in the CLA East region we hold committee meetings covering the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire & Middlesex, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk. These take place three times a year in each county.
Supported by the regional office, the committees give advice on key issues affecting members’ interests and raise matters of importance to them, to feed into national policy-making. In the last year committee meetings topics have included what the priorities should be for the redesign of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, the Renters' Reform Bill, the impact of inheritance tax changes, and lots more.
The CLA’s strength comes from the diversity of our members. We strongly encourage members with all kinds of rural businesses to participate in the running of the organisation, and invite them to contact their regional office to discuss how they might contribute.
