The CLA in the North has welcomed the Government’s decision to extend flood relief funding to farms in Yorkshire.
Following the devastation left by storm Eva on Boxing Day, the CLA, which represents farmers, landowners and rural businesses, called for the Farming Recovery fund to be extended to farmers and landowners in Yorkshire.
CLA North Regional Director Dorothy Fairburn, said: “I’m very pleased to hear the announcement this morning that the Farming Recovery Fund will be extended to farmers and landowners in Yorkshire.
“We’ve been pressing for the funding to be extended to Yorkshire so that hard hit farmers get the same treatment as Cumbria, Lancashire and Northumberland.
“It’s a really difficult time for everybody across the whole of the North of England. Almost everyone has been affected by the flooding in some way.
“I’m pleased to hear that farmer and landowners in Yorkshire will now be getting financial help to restore their valuable agricultural land.”
