A right rural Tweetup: A first for the CLA Game Fair

20 July 2013

Users of the modern social media phenomenon Twitter met face to face today at that most traditional of countryside events, the CLA Game Fair. The occasion was a "tweetup", where people left their smartphones, tablets and computers aside for a while to meet up face to face at the pub on Gunmakers' Row.

The organiser was Ben White of keepersmate.co.uk, a website for gamekeepers, beaters and guns, who said: "I decided to arrange this because it's a great way for lots of people who are friendly on Twitter, speak every day and are interested in field sports to meet up and put a face to a tweet.

"I'm really pleased with the turnout on what has been a very busy and sunny day, and it was good to see lots of people talking and networking. I hope we can make this an annual event."

CLA Game Fair Social Media Manager Hannah Calcutt said: "We are delighted to support Ben in what has proved to be a very successful experiment and look forward to working with him to make next year's tweetup an even bigger and better event."
