Can you help with local lobbying?

02 April 2014

For lobbying to work successfully we need members to sit on local groups and make the CLA aware of issues that we can lobby on.

Nationally the CLA sits on 169 stakeholder working groups, with a considerable number across the Midlands including 11 LEPs, 15 catchment partnership, nine Local Nature Partnership groups, nine county Campaign for the Farmed Environment Groups, Cannock Chase and Shropshire Hills AONBs and one Nature Improvement Area.

While we have a dedicated team we simply cannot be at every meeting. However if members can attend meetings and inform the office about what is happening then we are better able to safeguard your property rights.

For example the CLA needs a representative to sit on the Local Action Group (LAG) for Central and South Warwickshire. The LAG will decide how the LEADER funding will be spent in Warwickshire and make sure that the 70 percent grant funding is spent on economic benefits such as farm diversification and supporting micro enterprises.

Across the region we are looking to boost landowner participation in catchment partnerships, Local Nature Partnerships, Local Access Forums, rural crime groups and similar bodies.

If you have a particular interest, or area of expertise, and are interested in attending local group meetings please contact CLA Midlands Rural Adviser Donna Tavernor on 01785 337010 or
