Members affected by preferred route for HS2 Phase 2b asked to contact CLA

17 November 2016

CLA East is asking members who believe they might be affected by the Government's announcement of its preferred route for HS2 Phase 2b to contact the Regional Office.

To check whether your business is affected you can refer to the detailed maps on the Government’s website, found via the link below:

Alternatively, you can contact HS2 Ltd directly:

High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd, 2 Snowhill, Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6GA. Email or call 020 7944 4908.

The CLA is working closely with HS2 Ltd and the Government to ensure the best possible outcome for members affected.  To date our work in this area has included:

  • Seeking changes to the current HS2 Phase One Bill as it passes through Parliament to ensure HS2 Ltd treat all landowners fairly. Commitments offered by HS2 Ltd at this stage are likely to also be honoured on future phases such as 2b;
  • Securing wider changes to the compulsory purchase process included advance payments of compensation and penal rates of interest that will directly benefit those affected by HS2; and
  • Highlighting examples of poor practice by HS2 Ltd to the Department for Transport to ensure these mistakes are not repeated.

While we are able to offer general advice on the current consultation, compulsory purchase, the voluntary compensation schemes and HS2 scheme we are unable to act on behalf of individual members who may be affected by HS2. We recommend that if you are affected you should engage an experienced agent to help you through the compensation process. We may be able to recommend firms who can deal with compulsory purchase claims on behalf of members.

If you would like to speak to a member of the CLA’s advice team about HS2 please contact CLA East Regional Surveyor Tim Woodward who would be happy to speak to you.

We will be organising events for those members affected by HS2 to offer advice and guidance on how to engage with HS2 Ltd. Further details will be sent to members in due course, but please contact the Regional Office on 01638 590429 or email if you would like to register your interest in attending such an event.
