The CLA today (11 March) welcomed the decision by the Welsh Assembly to go ahead with a badger cull to eliminate bovine TB in Wales.
CLA President William Worsley said: "In Wales, as in other parts of the UK, bovine TB is a huge problem. It is obvious that fighting bovine TB without a badger cull is a failed and unsustainable policy, which has lead to a catastrophic increase in the disease.
"I have no doubt that this essential culling will be carried out in a professional way and with significant amounts of monitoring to make sure all conservation and welfare concerns are addressed."
