In addition to the main CLA response to the draft NPPF on this site, the CLA made a further more technical response on heritage. Although the NPPF's historic environment chapter could easily be made good, as it stands it has serious flaws which - contrary to Government promises - substantially reduce heritage protection by putting too many obstacles in the way of the beneficial use and sympathetic change which heritage needs if it is to have a viable long-term future.
