As the Government drives to improve infrastructure in the form of roads, rail, bridges and tunnels many landowners will face having their land bought through compulsory purchase. It is, therefore, important that landowners know the possible range of actions they might take in such circumstances.
This handbook provides advice on the opportunity for intervention in:
- the compulsory purchase order process which covers most local authority schemes;
- the development consent order process which is mainly used for nationally significant infrastructure projects; and
- the hybrid bill process which is used for very large national projects.
The handbook also explains some of the key recent changes to compulsory purchase guidance and legislation, and provides an update on CLA’s work in relation to Phase One and Phase 2a of the High Speed Two project.
