The CLA has welcomed Sir John Randall to his new role as special adviser to the Government on the environment.
CLA President Ross Murray said: “Sir John has a key role to play in shaping post-Brexit farming policy once the UK leaves the Common Agricultural Policy in 2020.
“The CLA looks forward to working with him to deliver a food, farming and environment policy which will unlock a new lease of life for the countryside, agriculture, our rural economy and communities.
“Sir John's record shows he understands that the countryside matters. I urge him to support continued investment in the countryside by ensuring farming, the rural economy and our landscapes remain a priority and by rewarding farmers in their land management that delivers public benefits such as improvements in soil quality, cleaning water, enhancing wildlife habitats and planting trees.”
