‘The Prime Minister’s enthusiasm and reassurance is welcome, but at some point we will need to move from rhetoric to the detail – recognising that No Deal planning must take into account numerous different sectors of the farming industry each with their own markets and challenges.
‘A fair funding settlement to protect farms and the rural economy, and an ambitious free trade arrangement that allows food and drink exporters to thrive, should be at the top of his agenda.
‘In talking about new free trade deals, the Prime Minister must remember that our high standards are not a bargaining chip to be negotiated away. Quite the opposite. Our high standards are our biggest selling point.’
