New farmer cluster for Upper Beult catchment

A ‘farmer cluster’ group is being set up for a river catchment area in Kent.

It will focus on the catchment area of the upper River Beult near Ashford.

A farm cluster is a group of farmers within a specific area, joining together to achieve a range of objectives at a landscape scale.

It is about bringing multiple farmers, landowners and land managers together for new conversations, training opportunities and workshops, to bring about more profitable farming and an improved environment for people and wildlife.

Farmer clusters are also likely to be seen as a key mechanism through which the new Environmental Land Management scheme (ELMs) will be delivered and will also potentially unlock access to additional new private funding streams.

Kent Wildlife Trust is now encouraging CLA members to get involved.
