Volunteer Lisa Pritchard explains:
We are a small group of volunteers who all share a passion for ceramics and creative arts.
Until recently we enjoyed the facilities at Mid Cheshire FE College, but the college is now closed and the fate of the equipment in the ceramics and arts block is as yet undecided.
Rather than give up, we feel we can make a very positive contribution to our local community by stepping up and offering a “Makers Space” where anyone who has an interest in the creative arts can become part of an inclusive and welcoming group of people who are keen to share their passion with others.
To make this dream a reality, we first have to find a suitable space to house the Collective.
A rural setting would be perfect and we need a space large enough to house one – or possibly 2 kilns, storage for glazes and other decorating materials, clay etc.
Ideally, we are looking for approx. 50sq metres of floorspace. This can either all be ground floor, or over two levels, as long as there is sufficient ground floor space for a kiln. There needs to be both electricity and water supplied to the building. Workshop type space would be most suitable, but we are flexible in our thinking .
We would need adequate car parking for 10-15 cars.
We would like reasonable access in the day and some evenings, as it would be one of our aims to offer our community membership maximum use of the space, and may also wish to offer courses and training in specific aspects of ceramics and arts.
We believe that the Mid Cheshire Clay and Arts collective has an opportunity to enhance considerably our local rural community with an appropriate use of under-utilised space.
If you think you may have a suitable space and would like to discuss further, please contact:
