A report by Middle Marches Community Land Trust
Thank you to all those who attended the launch event for the Middle Marches Community Land Trust (CLT) held on 4th April 2019. We were delighted to have such a good turn out.
The evening started off with a few presentations from the founding members of the Middle Marches CLT and this was followed by a workshop session where we heard feedback from the attendees on the idea of the Trust.
Some of the main themes that came out of the workshop and that will inform the work of the Trust include:
- An ‘offer’ to farmers and landowners to encourage engagement with the Trust
- Using mapping software to map existing land use and habitat, as well as helping to identify wildlife corridors and how land owned by different people is connected
- Creative ways to finance the Trust through sponsorship, community share issues and related trading
We are very grateful for all the observations and ideas that the attendees contributed to the launch event. These will provide us with a strong foundation upon which to begin the work of the Trust.
The next meeting will be in the Upper room at the Three Tuns, Bishops Castle at 7pm on Wednesday 22nd May.
We will be asking attendees to join one of several action-planning groups, which will translate the ideas from the launch into a programme of work. We will be particularly focused on targets we hope to achieve in our first year of operation, as well as looking further ahead to the future.
This is a great opportunity to find out more about the vision of the Middle Marches Community Land Trust and to get involved.
We look forward to seeing you there
