Commenting on the announcement of the Joint Unit for Waste Crime, a new taskforce dedicated to tackling serious and organised waste crime that will for the first time bring together law enforcement agencies, environmental regulators, HMRC and the National Crime Agency in the war against waste crime, CLA Midlands Regional Director Mark Riches said:
“This is excellent news and clear acknowledgement that fly-tipping and illegal dumping is very much a part of organised crime and needs appropriate measures to fight it.
“Sharing of intelligence and resources between agencies and forces is vital if we are to halt the blight on the countryside and the distress and cost to our members.
“I would strongly encourage the public to report any suspicious activity, without putting themselves at risk.”
