Essex County Council (ECC) plans to plant 375,000 over the next five years as part of an Essex Forest Initiative.

The initiative is one part of the councils Climate Change Action Plan and aims to highlight its commitment to tackling climate change and reducing its carbon footprint, as well as promoting a cleaner, greener Essex.

In July, ECC announced the launch of its Climate Change Action Commission – a cross-party group set-up to support environmental initiatives that reduce CO2, reduce waste, promote sustainable transport and proactively work to combat climate change.
