introduction to community led housing in surrey

The Surrey Community Housing Partnership  ( has now been formed and is holding a February event called “Introduction to Community Led Housing in Surrey”.

Community led housing is inspired and controlled by the community. Up and down the country more and more communities are successfully completing housing schemes that provide permanently affordable homes for local people.  In 2017 the Government launched a new initiative to support local communities to come together and develop housing.

The Partnership is running a morning events on 19th and 22nd February 2018 which will explore the opportunities, potential and challenges of community led housing in Surrey.

It will show how local authorities, land owners and local people can work together to come up with inspiring solutions and discuss the support, resources and funding available to help communities form groups and develop housing. Community led housing can include Community Land Trusts (CLTs), Co-Housing, Co-Operative Housing and Self-Build.

If you are a land agent, planner, housing specialist, community advocate or simply interested in self-build then these events will be relevant for you.

The event on 19th February is intended for people from west Surrey, the one on 22nd February for those from east Surrey.
