Ben was appointed CLA East Regional Director in January 2015 following a four-year spell as CLA Wales Director. During his time there, he advanced the impact of the CLA’s lobbying in the country and built relationships with key politicians, and oversaw a significant growth in membership. Ben has worked for the Association for 10 years and, previous to working in Wales, held posts as Conservation Adviser and Assistant Director South East.

Tim trained at the Royal Agricultural College (RAC), and has practised as a Rural Surveyor for over 25 years, specialising in estate management and advising institutional, charitable, and private landowners. He was the Regional Rural Surveyor for the National Trust in the East of England for eight years and has recently spent time on a consultancy basis as Interim Chief Surveyor for the CLA at Belgrave Square in London.

Claire read Geography at the University of Birmingham before taking a postgraduate course in Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural College. She qualified as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor in 2010 and has spent time in professional practice advising a range of clients on a variety of areas including planning, commercial property and valuation before joining the CLA in November 2013.

Katy has a keen interest in the environmental issues linked with farming, from soil health and water use, to the effectiveness and practicalities of rural payment schemes for both farmers and wildlife. She has an Integrated Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, with her studies focusing on the relationship between biodiversity and agriculture, as well as the complexities of agri-environmental legislation. Her dissertation investigated the impacts of Ecological Focus Areas on farmers in the Fens and Norfolk.

Caroline worked for the BBC, the Football League and Essex County Cricket Club before joining the CLA. The role of the Office Manager is varied but generally Caroline co-ordinates the East region team’s activities, organises events and supervises the CLA branch committees. Caroline lives on a farm and her spare time is spent looking after and riding her pony and walking her two dogs. As a qualified Dog Listener, she enjoys helping owners solve behavioural problems with their dogs.

Emily-Rose organises the CLA's events programme for members as well as the organisation's attendance at county shows in the region. She joined the CLA after graduating from Norwich University College of Arts with a degree in textiles, specialising in woven cloth. Having grown up on her family's farm in Suffolk, Emily-Rose is an active member of her local Young Farmers Club, Hadleigh YFC.

Lee is a former broadcast news editor for a cluster of radio stations in the east of England. He has also held a media and communications role at Stansted Airport and most recently was the Head of Communications at the Youth Sport Trust, where he oversaw national media activity linked to the London 2012 Olympic Legacy and a range of other high profile campaigns.

Bernard returned to manage the family farm near Wisbech after training in agriculture at Writtle College. Having set up a contract farming agreement he worked firstly for Greenvale Foods before becoming ADER’s (Agricultural Development in the Eastern Region) Project Officer for Cambridgeshire. His interests include supporting local sports teams, savouring regional food and drink and harnessing the power of social media. A keen Twitter user Bernard can be found tweeting @blueberntwo. Stuart comes from a Lincolnshire farming family and has 20 years' experience working in pig feed sales. He retrained in IT which led to a change of career, working with the Ministry of Defence for six years. Following this, Stuart returned home to manage the family farming business. More recently he has worked for Whites Recycling and Spaldings. Outside of work Stuart enjoys rugby, walking and cycling.

Mark is from a farming background, having farmed both in the UK and Canada before moving into the agricultural supply sector representing animal feedstuffs and analytical services. Having had a home in each of the four counties he represents for the CLA Mark knows the area well. He enjoys meeting both new and existing members on his travels and sharing his knowledge of land use, diversification and the challenges and opportunities in the area. Mark is a keen networker and tweets @cla_ri_ty and when not walking footpaths and bridleways can be found growing edible flowers and cooking with local produce.
