Many landowners are continuously seeking ways to diversify their land and increase its profitability.
CLA member Kata Tipis has recently joined forces with Peaktipis to develop the Wonderland Wedding Venues Partnerships – a turn-key wedding venue option that landowners could consider as an alternative use of their land.
Kata Tipis manufacture Event Tipis in the UK and supply stunning Tipis to the UK rental, venue and festival markets. Their vision is to create Tipi products with a sustainable ethos at its core, utilising UK craftsmanship and championing British quality.
Peaktipis, is one of the UK’s leading, award winning Tipi Rental businesses, delivering over 400 successful weddings and events throughout the UK since 2011.
Over the years the companies have become more and more aware of farmers and landowners who have beautiful scenic landscapes and are looking to diversify their businesses.
There has been a significant growth in the outdoor wedding market. Driven by social media, couples are looking beyond traditional hotel or draped marquee weddings for something alternative. More often than not a Tipi wedding fits the brief perfectly.
If you love the idea of running a wedding venue but haven’t got a clue where to start, a partnership with Wonderland Wedding Venues may be something for you to consider.
Here is how it works.
Four Giant Kata Tipis, with everything included from lighting, flooring, tables, benches and furnishings to create a space for circa 130 guests are provided to the landowners. The Tipis are erected in April and dismantled in October when they are refurbished for the next season. The company will develop and manage a bespoke website, social media presence, marketing and digital marketing plan.
The landowner will then take the leads that are generated and be responsible for initial enquiries, showcasing the venue and the meet and greet on the day. They will also liaise with the clients and suppliers in the lead up to the event to ensure every wedding runs smoothly.
The level of investment the partner is able to make determines their share of the venue revenue. The more the partner invests, the greater the percentage of the venue revenue they receive. The company treats each case individually and can offer solutions for as little as £35,000 initial one off investment, returns range from £60,000 to £120,000 per year from the venue rental alone.
On top of the rental share, the landowner has the opportunity to increase the revenues by offering additional services such as bar or supplementary camping.
The company is also interested in speaking to landowners who have an interest in leasing land for a guaranteed sum, for those interested in options with zero investment.
