GN29-22 - Biodiversity Net Gain – An Overview (England only)

The Environment Act 2021 introduces Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to the planning system. This will require new developments to demonstrate an increase in biodiversity value. This Guidance Note gives an overview of what BNG is and the implications for landowners. This includes those putting land forward for development, undertaking development on their own land, or delivering biodiversity units on their land.
