Dr Charles Trotman

Senior Rural Business Adviser

Charles is a political economist with over 17 years experience of developing rural economic policy for the CLA and lobbying Government.

He started at the NFU as Dairy Adviser in 1990 before lecturing at London University on EU political economics and EU environmental policy. He was Deputy Director of an economics consultancy in Brussels between 1996 and 2001 before becoming Rural Economy Adviser at the start of 2002. He has overall responsibility for rural economic policy and specific responsibility for digital telecommunications, rural development, rural tourism and Brexit on trade and labour.
