The Housing (Wales) Bill was introduced on 18 November by the Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Carl Sargeant. The Bill is at Stage 1 of consideration with a representative committee charged with examining the principal purpose(s) of the Bill not the fine detail. Once this committee has reported on the Bill, time is allocated in Plenary for the Assembly to debate/decide agreement on the general principles of the Bill. This ‘Stage 1 debate’ should be concluded by the end of March. In the meantime, the CLA has prepared and sent a briefing for the 10 Assembly Members on this committee along with an invitation for further discussion and the possibility of our London team re-drafting elements to support opposition parties.
