GN24-23 Residential lettings - Damp and Mould Guidance (England Only)

The Government recently published comprehensive new guidance on damp and mould in homes. It has been written in response to death of 2-year-old Awaab Ishak due to mould in the home. It sets out the legal position, much practical advice and, notably, a new emphasis on the responsibility of the accommodation provider – regardless of the tenure type. It should, therefore, be carefully considered by all who provide residential accommodation. This CLA Guidance Note provides a summary of the main points for landlords and a suggested checklist for them to give to their tenants/occupiers.
